Why does Bird describe an eternity in Hell (utter darkness, complete separation from God, etc) better than complete annihilation? Why would someone want to be worthy of an eternal existence when its so devastating?

What is the relationship between hades and hell? With so many views on life after death, how can you be sure that they are based on scripture?

Is it fair to say that we can't exactly know what hell will be like (e.g. literal fire and brimestone)? That most of the Bible's descriptions are metaphorical for it's despair?

Re: THEOLOGY QUESTIONS FOR DEC 5
I've heard a lot of theories about what happens to a person's soul immediately after they die: (if they are a believer) do they go to Heaven right after they die? Or is heaven off limits until judgment day? If so, is there a holding place? Or is judgement day a thing that happens on an individual level for each soul? Is there a theory that tends to line up with scripture more than the rest?

Is it possible, through study of scripture, to know or "accurately guess" what happend to righteous/non-righteous people pre-Jesus? I know Bird touched on it some but I'd love another's thoughts.

What purpose do you think God has in making one final judgement that we all wait for? Why not just all right when they die?

Will the rapture happen before, during, or after the tribulation?
Is Abraham's Bosom a thing or a people just making too much out of the details of a parable? (Luke 16:19-31)
What in tarnation is happening in Revelation 12 and 13?

Annihilationism

It seems to me that Byrd does not even consider Annihilationism as a possible interpretation for hell in the written Scriptures. He basically says that annihilationists don't read their Bible. Are there better resources that consider annihilationism as a possibility, even if they discredit it?

Do you think the "mark of the beast" could be a company logo? (ex. APPLE)

With Psalms being as figurative as it is, is it possible to obtain doctrine from it or should we not read that far into any of them?

Is there a reasonable justification for the belief of Purgatory? A major belief like that can't appear from thin air, right?

Why is purgatory still taught in the Catholic church? If there is no evidence in the New Testament that we need further purification for sins, how is it biblical? Does this not take away from what Jesus did on the cross?
