Marlou Peters: Discussion Questions
1.The New Testament gives us many ways to understand the significance of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Choose one model of the atonement that you have not used before. Summarize how you could share the gospel on campus using that model. .
I have not really used the satisfaction model. That has been difficult to explain how far we are removed from God. “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23. It is hard to point out and tell people that they are sinful too even though they don’t think so. I do think it is very important to explain that so they will get an understanding on how awesome, amazing and great God is. Otherwise they can think all kinds of things about God but they need to know that He is so much better than we will ever be. So I do think that I need to share that with my student about the goodness of God and praise God and share things with students what God has done for me while explained that I fall short too and explain that everyone has sinned. People always think that sin is the big things. For example: murder but they don’t realize that lying is sin too so it is very important to talk about that.
5: Describe the necessity of the resurrection for salvation.
I think it is very necessary to talk about the resurrection. When Jesus died on the cross He saved us from death. That is amazing! But if He wouldn’t be raised from the dead than it is just history, we are saved but the rest of our life on earth we would be by ourselves. But God is not dead. He is still with us and we can pray and God is still speaking to us. If there is no resurrection than our faith is useless. That would mean God is dead and Jesus died on the cross and that’s it. Jesus conquered death. How can we do that if Jesus didn’t do it himself? How can we be saved from and die to our old selves but Jesus didn’t resurrect? Without Jesus resurrecting our faith us useless. The resurrection is very essential and not something we can’t forget. I think this is even one of the most important things!!

Re: Marlou Peters: Discussion Questions
What you said in your first response, about sharing that we all fall short while still praising God reminded me of how we do history givings. I'm not sure if your campus does it the same way we do, but during our first core group of the year we share our histories, and its the leaders job to be very vulnerable and share what they struggle with and how they have fallen short. This firstly lets the new core group members know that core group is a safe place to be vulnerable, but it also helps people realize that everyone falls short and that God still redeems. It's such and amazing way to share the Gospel, by helping them realize that even through their flaws and their sins God loves them.
