Jessica Rodriguez Theology Question
Pg. 339 #1 Explain how the kingdom is both a present experience and a future hope. What do we already have and what do we still hope for?
The Kingdom of God has invaded our world through Jesus' work on the cross. Through the blood of Jesus spilled on our behalf, we have freedom from the dominion of sin and death and we have the grace of God in life. The victory has been won against Satan and sin and death through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Now we have the Holy Spirit as the invasion of the Kingdom of God and has a seal for the ultimate, fulfilled Kingdom of God reigning in the new heaven and earth through Jesus. So, now we have the power of the Holy Spirit and we have authority over Satan, yet we still live in a fallen world and struggle to persist against our own sinful nature. But, we have hope for the coming glory of Christ when he returns to bring us into the new earth to live with God forever. Yet, we must still suffer through pain, suffering, temptation and endure until Christ returns and subjugates all hostile beings to God's reign. We are also waiting for our resurrection life to be fully actualized, just as Jesus' was.

Re: Jessica Rodriguez Theology Question
Very beautifully said Jessica. While reading this I got pumped up because that is such good new that never gets old. I like how you addressed the fact that we still have to suffer even though the kingdom is here. I think that is a reason why this concept is difficult for people to understand, because it feels like there should be no suffering if the kingdom is already present. Remembering that there is so much good that comes from the present kingdom and that there is still so much hope for the coming kingdom shows how amazing our God is.
